Welcome to Toddlers and Tomatoes
Our mission at Toddlers and Tomatoes is to provide a one stop resource for families struggling to understand why their toddler behaves the way they
do at mealtimes. Through our website and services, we offer a navigation tool and handbook for managing the challenges of life with a toddler,
in particular, mealtimes. We know that the right education and support will decrease the stress and increase the enjoyment of the family meal.
With close to 15 years of experience as a child care provider, mental health professional, behavior therapist, and most recently, parent, Kristin Quinn
has acquired the tools needed to help families experience positive mealtimes with their little ones. For almost a decade, Kristin was a Clinical Feeding
Specialist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, working with children who have diagnosed feeding issues. Her experiences at CHOP exposed her to
both typically developing children and those with developmental delays, including Autism, and medical diagnoses. The behavior management techniques that
Kristin is well versed in can be utilized to empower even the most frazzled parents and caregivers.
During her tenure at CHOP, Kristin realized that what she and her colleagues came to accept as common knowledge, was not. Most parents learn as they go,
without the benefit of prior education or experience to prepare them for life with a child. The biggest lesson that Kristin took away from working with the
families at CHOP was the power adults have to affect the behavior of children – even those children whose behavior has left the adults in their life
feeling hopeless. With some education and guidance, and a willingness to learn, parents can acquire useful techniques for managing their child’s behavior.
Toddlers and Tomatoes exists to help families learn that, while their child may be wreaking havoc on mealtime, it is not a lost cause. Many families
find themselves struggling to understand and manage the behavior of an independent, developing toddler. Our website seeks to offer a place for education,
sharing, and services to assist parents in regaining control of what should be a peaceful and engaging opportunity for families to connect – meal time!
